We had the privilege of introducing skateboarding to Years 3-6 at the amazing Abel Smith School. In the Hertfordshire County Town of Hertford, we provided two entire school term’s worth of lessons with an Introduction to Skateboarding course. Unsurprisingly, to see how far they had all progressed in this small space of time was something incredibly special.
Providing lessons within schools during the COVID-19 pandemic has been a new challenge for all of us. Teaching staff, students and ABC Skateboarding Instructors have been subject to countless Lateral Flows Tests, PCR Tests, Face Mask obligations and vigorous hand washing between lessons.
Even though teaching in a new viral world has come with its challenges, we must remember that learning new skills, having fun and bringing smiles to everyone we come across is the most important thing when teaching skateboarding. It is only in the last 18 months it comes with new responsibilities to keep our students, partners and coaches safe.
We can’t wait to see you all next year. Let’s hope that Santa’s sending some skateboards your way. What 2022 brings might be a mystery to us now. Just remember to stay safe out there in this crazy world and we’ll be skateboarding together again soon.
